Core prompt: US-based Sealed Air has introduced a new multilayer shrink sleeve film. The new film enables converters to make up to 20% more shrink sleeve

US-based Sealed Air has introduced a new multilayer shrink sleeve film.

The new film enables converters to make up to 20% more shrink sleeves labels per pound of film compared to 50-micron monolayer films, normally used to make shrink sleeves.

Sealed Air shrink packaging solutions marketing manager Scott Keefauver said they were looking at applications like beverage, tamper-resistant pharmaceutical, health-and-beauty multi-packs where sleeves have struggled.

"We believe it has a broad market appeal because of its ability to work across-the-board and combine the benefits of monolayer film into one product," Keefauver said.

It is the second shrink line film product for Sealed Air, which entered the market two years with Cryovac 360, a five-layer film aimed at squeeze bottle product applications.

The new Cryovac GT-1 lower-density film is a multiple polymer film with glycol-modified PET layers on the outside, making it a drop-in material that processors can use on their current production equipment, for their existing ink systems and sealing solvents.

It can also be a solution for dairy products and yogurt cups with direct printing.

Sealed Air, the Global packaging giant in Elmwood Park, NJ, had $8.1bn in revenues in 2011.
